The Brooklyn Bridge, originally called the East River Bridge, opened 130 years ago today on May 24, 1883. Here are some of my favorite images of the bridge from the 1870s to the early 1900s.  I love the construction pictures!  Click on each image to enlarge.

Babiators makes our favorite sunglasses for babies and toddlers. Here’s why:

  • They offer 100% protection from UVA and UVB rays.
  • Babiators are made of rubber so they don’t slip, slide and won’t break when they are bent or even sat upon- they always bounce back!
  • They contain no BPA, phthalates, lead, and other metals, meeting all regulations.
  • Their lenses are impact and shatter-resistant.
  • They come in a variety of cute shades and are adorable.
  • If your glasses are ever lost or broken, Babiator will replace them!

From their site: “Designed by an F-18 fighter pilot for your little aviator, Babiators are sure to make your child the Maverick of the playground!” Love this!

Below are some of our favorites.  For the best prices, click on the provided links to purchase your Babiators on www.amazon.com and www.babiators.com.  Junior Babiators fit most children ages 6 months – 3 years. Classic Babiators fit most children ages 3 – 7+ years.

We love this former Church on the Southwest corner of Washington Square Park in NYC’s West Village.  Novare (135 West 4th Street) was originally built in 1860 as a Methodist church and in 2006, it was transformed into a gorgeous, unique residential building.  From www.manhattanscout.com:

The former church now houses an awe-inspiring fifty-foot glass atrium and eight private residences with distinctly modern interiors, while the heavy stone facade, exquisite detailing and stained glass windows remain. It is distinguished by its dual identity; the stone façade gives way to an almost ethereal world of light, space, comfort, and silence within.

The interior is bright and expansive:

Stevie Wonder was born on May 13, 1950 in Saginaw, Michigan.  Wonder, born Stevland Hardaway Judkins, was a child prodigy who excelled at a variety of instruments from an early age including piano, harmonica, drums, and bass.  He was discovered when Ronnie White (of The Miracles) was persuaded by his brother to visit a friend’s house to check out Stevie.  At only 11 years old, Berry Gordy signed him to Motown’s Tamla label!    His stage name:  ”Little Stevie Wonder”.  By age 13, he had his first major hit with “Fingertips”.

We love walking through Washington Square Park in the Spring. Last weekend, the park was filled with musicians, students, tourists, New Yorkers, and dogs! We grabbed some old-fashioned peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and carrot sticks from Peanut Butter & Co. and headed to sit in the sun and listen to live music. We snapped this shot of flowers blossoming on one of the walking paths. They’re so bright and cheery right now! Take a visit this weekend- the weather is supposed to be beautiful!
