(George Washington Bridge, NYC)

Last night, I returned from a week of relaxation with friends and family.  I love the feeling of driving down the West Side Highway with the windows down on a summer night!  I always feel home when I see the lights of the George Washington Bridge!

I took this picture before leaving for vacation!  What a gorgeous end-of-summer glow.

Katia and I dropped off one of TLB’s saxophones yesterday for repair at a place we’ve been going to for years, Jon Baltimore Music on 46th street. This place is amazing- I highly recommend it for NYC musicians! It is full of saxophones, trumpets, tubas, clarinets, bassoons, violins and much more. Everyone who works there is friendly and welcoming, down to the resident cat, Bruce.

Today, I’m getting close to finishing TLB Music‘s Fall curriculum! Finally! I love this one: students will be “traveling” to a new country each week to meet its music and culture. Our teachers and pianists are definitely going to be working hard playing so many styles of music- Argentine Tango, Nigerian Highlife, Austrian Waltz, Brazilian Bossa Nova and more! I’m surrounded by stacks of sheet music and instruments, and am slowly…very slowly…scanning it all in to make it digital and snapped this photo to share.

Hope you’re having a great evening!

Katia and I decided to take our work outside this afternoon to Washington Square Park. It was too beautiful to stay inside all day! I worked on TLB‘s Fall curriculum in the sunshine and was treated to several live performances, including these amazing steppers. I snapped a few shots to share:

I love this new view of lower Manhattan’s skyline.  NYC’s One World Trade Center (formerly Freedom Tower) has been slowly rising above the city since its construction began in April of 2006.  After the final piece of the antenna was attached to the top of the tower on May 10, 2013, it became America’s tallest building and the world’s third largest!
